THE COMPANY
Highly regarded membership organisation - their membership comprises of leading architects, designers, consultants, construction and interiors suppliers, high profile corporate end-users, and financial and legal corporates. They run a prestigious programme of major events and awards, forums, talks, think tanks, tours, and communications to champion and celebrate the achievements, trends and future of this exciting and leading edge sector. Their programmes also champion new and established talent through their prestigious awards and mentoring programmes. (The role is offered on a 12 month mat cover.)

THE ROLE
A key role within the team – you’ll be responsible for the delivery of a wide range of flagship event projects and also be involved more widely on other communications activities – working closely with the Director of Communications and Events. You’ll manage an external agency for the Annual Conference, and be the lead Project Manager for their industry talent mentoring programme and awards, as well as other key events (eg Annual Lunch) and manage specialist sector related committee meetings. There are 3 Event Co-ordinators who look after other smaller events, tours and lectures that make up the organisations busy programme of events activity. Your communications remit will include ensuring maximum value from the CRM infrastructure and website, and the production of regular newsletter. You’ll manage the overall programme of events and marketing activities to ensure the quality delivery of an exciting programme that reflects the current trends and prestigious profile of the sector.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage flagship events (eg annual conference (600pax), Presidents Lunch (500), annual Dinner (1,200pax)
  • Overseeing Agency on larger events, and the overall marketing plans to ensure delivery against budget and objectives
  • Oversee Awards Competition, and manage regional committee meetings, and oversee roll out and development of industry mentoring programme
  • Responsible for monthly newsletter, and liaison with external PR agency for events coverage
  • Oversee management and development of the CRM database
  • Support Director of Communications & Events with overall member communications and the production of marketing materials where required

THE CANDIDATE
You are an experienced Communications and Events Manager – who is comfortable taking the lead on varied projects. You’ll also have experience of managing a website and CRM database, have some evidence of copywriting and editing skills, and an eye for design and layout for marketing/printed materials. You’ll have experience of designing and delivering a wide range of events (including conferences) and sufficient knowledge to manage supplier agencies, and oversee full project budgets. You’re an excellent communicator, with a mature and professional approach to working within a team and producing excellent output.  You’re used to dealing with a varied range of stakeholders, ideally including committees, with confidence and diplomacy.

Key requirements:

  • Experience of managing and delivering varied event formats (including conferences, dinners/lunches, awards, seminars, talks, dinners etc)
  • Website and CRM database experience
  • An eye for design and layout, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Evidence of copywriting and editing skills
  • Ability to commission and liaise effectively with designers, printers and event management agencies
  • Take pride in producing excellent work – a great project manager
  • Able to co-ordinate multiple stakeholders with confidence
  • Calm, measured approach, diplomatic, and work well with others
  • Highly organised, great attention to detail,
  • Copywriting, content development experience
  • Budget management experience
  • Knowledge marketing collatoral and email design (highly desirable)
  • Photoshop, Indesign proficiency (desirable)
